Track
Night Owl is involved with track again this year. He's not running as much though, which pleases his football coach who doesn't want him to lose too much weight. This year Night Owl has been throwing discus and shot put. He really enjoys it, and is learning very quickly. I took these pictures at the meet yesterday. The one above is the only good picture I took of the shot put. The three below are the discus throw. I love the determined look on his face! (Click on the pictures to make them bigger.)

Jetter's First Communion
Another very special day for Jetter! On Saturday, April 24th, he received his First Holy Communion. He was so excited, and nervous about this big event.
God bless you Jetter! We are very proud of you!
Of course, not everyone was quite so excited!

Can I Count This as School?
My kids are all running here and there this morning. Social Butterfly was working very hard on "a secret" yesterday. This morning she got up early and showed me all the little clues she had written so her brother's could have a treasure hunt. There were about 50 clues! She hid them before the boys were awake, and now they are searching for the mysterious treasure. Any time I try to rope them in so we can start our day I hear "Oh please! Just a few more minutes? We need to find these clues!" They are so excited! I hate to tell them, but at the end of this grand hunt there is a ziplock bag of leftover cookies for their treasure... the cookies nobody wanted yesterday. Ah well, I guess they are reading and Beany is having the time of his life with all this excitement!
There isn't any snow or fog for a 1 hour school delay, so I guess we'll call this a "Treasure Delay".

A Big Day for Jetter
Tuesday evening Jetter was Confirmed. The Bishop came and did Confirmations for the area churches. It was a huge crowd. Jetter was so nervous at first, but relaxed once the ceremony started. We are so proud of the fine young man he is growing up to be!
Next step, First Communion on the 24th!

Pictures from Spring Break
I don't have much time to blog but I wanted to at least post some pictures from our trip to Willimsburg VA, and Southport NC where we visited with family. It was a great trip! (You can click on the picture if you want to make them bigger.)
First stop: The Governor's Mansion at Williamsburg. The kids are waiting for our tour to start:
Inside the Printers Shop. This was one of many shops that we visited. We learned quite a bit. Some of the favorites were the Dress Maker, the Blacksmith, The Gunsmith, and of course, the gift shop!
First stop: The Governor's Mansion at Williamsburg. The kids are waiting for our tour to start:
Builder was impressed with the many swords and guns that hung on the
walls:
Outside the Mansion:
Lunch at Shield's Tavern was fun, but we really enjoyed our dinner at the King's Arm's Tavern. There, we were visited by a School Master, the wife of the proprietor of the establishment, and even a musician. Here is a picture from Shield's Tavern:
On to North Carolina. We really enjoyed the ocean, even the first few days when we had to wear jackets!
Of course, the only days I remembered the camera were the cold ones!
Beany really enjoyed watching the many flocks of seagulls that flew over head. Here he is on his new friend:
We loved our loooong deck that took us right out to the beach! Jetter and Beany are waiting at the end:
Mom Mom and Social Butterfly:
Ditto!
Pop Pop serving the wonderful dinner that he, Mom Mom and Aunt "Dinky" brought:
Night Owl caught 7 sharks while he was fishing. Here, he is cutting up the last of one that he prepared for dinner:
Mom Mom, Aunt "Dinky" and Dad. (Dad's the one scowling!):
Pop Pop played "sword fighting" with Builder and Beany:
Unfortunately, the kids passed around a flu-bug during our last couple of days of vacation:
Despite the sickness though, we really enjoyed our visit. We're looking forward to our next trip!
